Fredensborg Palace is a palace located on the eastern shore of Lake Esrum in Fredensborg on the island of Zealand in Denmark. It is the Danish Royal Family’s spring and autumn residence, and is often the site of important state visits and events in the Royal Family.

The beautiful 18th-century baroque palace was built as a hunting palace for Frederik IV and is today often the setting for large official state visits and family events in the royal family. Fredensborg Palace was built as a hunting seat for King Frederik IV by the architect J.C. Construction began in 1719. The main building was first used in 1722 and the chapel in 1726. Frederiksborg Slot is an impressive castle with walled fortications including a drawbridge over the requisite moat, courtyard with a masculine fountain of strength in the center, tall spires, intimate chapel, large garden with a flowing canal down the center and of course, a Grand Ballroom.
